Binaebi Akah » Football Viewer Prototype
Given an hour and a half, propose and implement a computer imaginative design that will act as a teaching aide for football coaches in the locker room and on the field. Our proposed design included a paper prototype interface with simulated virtual reality goggles.
This design is meant to aid the football coach in the locker room. The touch screen allows the coach to select a play from the game. Within each play, the coach chooses the team member whose view from which the entire team would watch the play. To immerse the team members back into the game, each member watches the play through virtual reality goggles.
Prototype Materials
Paper, toothpicks, tape, colored pencils, lenses of a broken pair of sunglasses found on the street.
Design Process
We referenced ESPN online to inform our visualization of each quarter's summary, the plays within a game, and the location of the players within a selected play. We decided to make each quarter a tab within the interface, so the coach can jump through the quarters quickly.
We drew different quarters on note cards, cutting the tops of the cards so that they looked like tabs when stacked. Each card had a specific play. On another card, we drew the location of the players for that play. To simulate virtual reality, we drew a scene of football players running at the viewer. We used toothpicks to hang it from the sunglasses.
